間近で体感してわかったこと
先日、六本木のNight Clubで DJ FIVE と ERICK DLUX のプレイを体感してきました。
DJ FIVE / ERICK DLUXとは？
DJ FIVE はロサンゼルスを拠点に世界中のクラブやイベントで活躍するトップDJ。ラスベガスをはじめ数々のビッグパーティーでプレイし、多くのDJからも支持されています。
ERICK DLUX もアメリカを代表するオープンフォーマットDJの一人で、ラスベガスやロサンゼルスを中心に世界各地で活躍しています。
実は約3年前、大阪で初めてDJ FIVEのプレイを聴いた時、自分の中のDJに対する考え方が変わるほどの衝撃を受けました。
それ以来、ずっと尊敬しているDJの一人です。
まさかの特等席で学ぶことに
当日はフロアでプレイを楽しんでいたところ、DJ KANGOさんが声をかけてくださり、なんとDJブース横でプレイを見られることに。
世界トップレベルのDJを、文字通り目の前で体感できる最高の環境でした。
一番感じたことは「音楽が本当に好き」
今回一番印象に残ったのは、
「この人たちは本当に音楽が好きなんだな」
ということでした。
今回のパーティーはEDMやダンスミュージックが中心。
しかし、ただ人気曲を流しているわけではありません。
常にフロアのお客様を見ながら、
- 今何を求めているのか
- どの曲が反応が良いのか
- 次は何をかけるべきか
を考え続けていました。
反応が薄ければ瞬時に方向転換。
逆にフロアに刺さった曲は長めにプレイして会場全体の一体感を作り出す。
その判断力と経験値の高さはさすが世界レベルだと感じました。
テクニックだけではない
もちろん、
- ミキシング
- エフェクトワーク
- マイクパフォーマンス
も素晴らしかったです。
ただ、それ以上に感じたのは、
「テクニックを見せるためのDJではなく、お客様を楽しませるためのDJ」
だということ。
そして何より印象的だったのが、
本人たちが一番楽しそうだったこと。
大勢のお客様の前でプレイしていても、ブースの中では純粋に音楽(パーティー)を楽しんでいる。
その楽しさが自然とフロアにも伝わり、会場全体の雰囲気を作っていました。
SNSでは絶対にわからない学び
最近はSNSで世界中のDJプレイを見ることができます。
しかし、
現場で体感する空気感や判断力、フロアとのコミュニケーションは動画だけでは絶対に伝わりません。
今回、世界トップレベルのDJを間近で見られたことで、改めて大切なことを学びました。
良いDJに必要なのは
- 高い技術
- 豊富な音楽知識
- フロアを読む力
- 音楽への情熱
そして何より、
「お客様を楽しませたい」という気持ち。
世界で活躍するDJを目の前で体感できたことは、自分にとって本当に貴重な経験でした。
これからのDJ活動や岡山DJスクールでのレッスンにも、この学びを活かしていきたいと思います。🎧🔥

その積み重ねが、人との繋がりや新しいチャンスを生み、今回のような貴重な経験にも繋がるのだと改めて感じた一夜でした。

What I Learned from Watching Up Close
Recently, I had the opportunity to experience the performances of DJ FIVE and ERICK DLUX at a nightclub in Roppongi, Tokyo.
Who Are DJ FIVE and ERICK DLUX?
DJ FIVE is a world-renowned DJ based in Los Angeles, performing at major clubs and events around the globe. He has played countless high-profile parties, including in Las Vegas, and is highly respected by DJs worldwide.
ERICK DLUX is also one of America’s leading open-format DJs, performing internationally with a strong presence in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
About three years ago, I first saw DJ FIVE perform in Osaka. His set had such a profound impact on me that it changed the way I think about DJing.
Since then, he has been one of the DJs I admire the most.
An Unexpected Front-Row Learning Experience
While enjoying the music on the dance floor, DJ KANGO kindly invited me over to stand next to the DJ booth.
It was an incredible opportunity to watch world-class DJs perform literally right in front of me.
The Biggest Thing I Learned: They Truly Love Music
The most memorable thing about the night was realizing:
“These DJs genuinely love music.”
The party was centered around EDM and dance music.
However, they weren’t simply playing popular tracks.
They constantly watched the crowd and paid attention to:
- What the audience wanted at that moment
- Which songs were getting the best reactions
- What track should come next
If a song wasn’t connecting, they adjusted immediately.
When a track was working well, they let it breathe and used it to build a stronger sense of unity throughout the room.
Their ability to read the crowd and make decisions in real time was truly world-class.
It’s About More Than Just Technique
Of course, their:
- Mixing skills
- Use of effects
- Microphone performance
were all outstanding.
But what impressed me even more was that they weren’t DJing to show off their skills.
They were DJing to create the best possible experience for the audience.
Every decision had a purpose.
They Looked Like They Were Having Fun
What stood out the most was how much fun they were having.
Even while performing in front of a packed crowd, they were genuinely enjoying the music themselves.
That energy naturally spread to the dance floor and helped create an amazing atmosphere throughout the venue.
Lessons You Can’t Learn from Social Media
Today, we can watch DJs from all over the world through social media.
However, the atmosphere, decision-making, and interaction between a DJ and the crowd are things that can never be fully understood through a screen.
Watching world-class DJs up close reminded me of what truly matters.
What Makes a Great DJ?
- Strong technical skills
- Deep musical knowledge
- The ability to read a crowd
- Passion for music
And above all:
A genuine desire to make people have a great time.
Being able to witness world-class DJs from just a few feet away was an invaluable experience for me.
I hope to apply these lessons to my own DJ career and to the students at Okayama DJ School. 🎧🔥
Keep Going Because You Love Music
At the end of the day, it all starts with a love for music.
By continuing to pursue what you love, you create connections, open doors to new opportunities, and sometimes find yourself experiencing unforgettable moments like this.
It was a night that reminded me why I started DJing in the first place. 🎶✨
